Description:
Graphene and graphene substrates display properties that have a huge potential as material interface for device and biomedical tools targeting the modulation or recovery of brain functionality. However, to be considered a reliable neural interface, graphene derived substrates should properly interact with astrocytes, favoring their growth and avoiding gliotic adverse reaction. Indeed, astrocytes are the most numerous cells in the human brain and they have crucial physiological role to maintain its homeostasis and to modulate synaptic transmission.
