SMEDIP is an industrial research project presented by MIST ER Consortium and approved on the "Call for strategic industrial research projects targeted at priority areas of smart specialization strategy" (DGR 774/2015) within the POR FESR 2014-2020 EMILIA-ROMAGNA Asse 1 Azione 1.2.2

The purpose of this project is the demonstration of a complete system of predictive diagnostics for automatic machines.

To this end, the focus will be on three main themes. The first concerns the construction of miniaturized vibration sensors, intended as a control board and communication with on board a MEMS chip, manufactured precisely according to the specifications of the companies involved.

The ability to build custom sensors at chip level, and the ability to eventually ensure a small production, is a key element to impact on the needs of the regional industry.

The second topic concerns the realization of a wireless communication system, since in most machines the points of interest are located on moving parts and, in particular, in rotation. It will also explore the possibility of a form of contactless power supply, where necessary.

The third thematic cover identification of a series of algorithms that can be used in various application cases to analyze the signal and recognize a malfunction or the progressive wear of the components.

The entire system will be tested first on a bench with actuators calibrated, following on functional parts of the machinery companies and finally on real machines.
