Training

Bachelor Thesis opportunities:

Experimental and Theoretical theses on nanostructured materials based on graphene are available. The thesis may focus on different topics, form the study of the growth processes, to the integration possible application in sensors and devices. Laboratory experiences focusing on electron microscopy are possible, as well as actitvites centered on numerical studies of the optoelectronic properties of the systems under investigation
Contact persons: Cristian Degli Esposti Boschi (Theoretical), Vittorio Morandi (Experimental)
Duration: 3-4 months

Experimental and Theoretical theses on the processing and the electrical characterizations of SiC (silicon carbide) for microelectronic devices are available. Each thesis may focus on one or more of the following topics: electrical doping on selected areas by ion implantation, fabrication of ohmic contacts on selected region that have been electrically doped by ion implantation, and modelling of the carrier transport in the layers doped by ion implantation and through the semiconductor to metal interface. Laboratory experiences focusing on sample processing and electrical characterizations are possible. Studies centred on numerical and analytical  studies on the electrical properties of the systems under investigation are possible too.
Contact persons: Roberta Nipoti
Duration: 3-4 months

Master Thesis opportunities:

Experimental and Theoretical theses on nanostructured materials based on graphene are available. The thesis may focus on different topics, form the study of the growth processes, to the integration possible application in sensors and devices. Based on the interests of the student, the thesis may focus on the follwogin topics: (i) material synthesis and preparation, characterization with electron microscopy techniques (SEM, TEM), or (ii) numerical simulation of electronic and/or strctural properties of graphene and graphene-based materials, in strong connection with the experimental activities
Contact persons: Cristian Degli Esposti Boschi (Theoretical), Vittorio Morandi (Experimental)
Duration: 6-8 months
