His main interests focus on the synthesis and characterization of nanostructured materials, among which 2D materials and semiconductor nanoparticles and nanowires. His background and technical skills are spanning from synthetic chemistry, to optical spectroscopy and device characterization. His current activity is aimed at the development of innovative nanostructured graphene-based materials for energy conversion devices.
Curriculum: 

Raffaello Mazzaro is a research fellow at IMM-CNR. He graduated in Photochemistry and Molecular Materials in 2012 at the University of Bologna, then he obtained the PhD in Chemistry in 2016 within a joint collaboration between the Chemistry department "G.Ciamician" of the university of Bologna and CNR-IMM Bologna, under the supervision of Prof. Paola Ceroni and Dr. Vittorio Morandi. During the PhD he spent 4 months at INRS-EMT institute in Montrèal (QC, Canada) as a visiting student.

After 1 year post-doc fellowship in the Photo-Nanolab at the University of Bologna, he got a 2-years research fellowship in the experimental physics group of Luleå University of Technology (Luleå, SE). In 2019, he got a research fellowship in the Graphene Technology Group at CNR-IMM, financed by "Graphene flagship" project.

He co-authored more than 25 peer-reviewed papers in internation journals, with h-index 10 (may 2019, source Scopus). He has given oral and poster communications to several international conferences and he has been awarded with 3 different awards for best PhD thesis in inorganic chemistry, photochemistry and Microscopy sciences.
